Lighting glossary for beginners ...

Luminous Flux

A light source is given by the total amount of light in each direction. Its symbol is shown briefly as lm.(Lumen)

Lux

The lighting effect of 1 unit luminous flux that falling on a surface of 1 square meter.

Radiation Angle

It means the light falling on an object in which angle.

CRI (Color Rendering Index)

Color rendering index of colors, expresses how it looks under the artificial light sources.

If CRI of an artificial light source is high ,then it becomes easier to see the real color of the an object.

Colour Temperature

Color temperature is expressed in Kelvin. The color temperature of the LEDs varies from 2,500 to 10,000K.

If Kelvin value decreases, the color changes to yellow, on the contrary increased color turns white and blue.

3000: Warm White  5000: Neutral white  6,000 K Cold white  4000: Daylight

What is IP?

IP code is protection indicator of the fittings against solid and liquid bodies.

IP protection class is shown with two digits. The first figure against solid objects, the second digit indicates the protection against liquids.

The higher IP degree of the luminaire enables the reflector operation more efficient.
